Virtual First Friday at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station

Join us online as we participate in ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station’s Virtual First Friday line-up with a hosted, pre-recorded concert featuring advanced student orchestras. Check out the lineup of talented arts + culture groups who are also scheduled to share their craft online exhibits and live virtual events on the Liberty Station website.
Three works will be showcased, including:
- Leoš Janáček’s Suite for Strings, Andante con moto, performed by principal musicians from SDYS’ advanced Symphony Orchestra, in video/audio assembly format. Recorded in April 2020 and premiered May 2, 2020.
- Franz Joseph Haydn’s Concerto for Cello in D Major, Op. 101, Rondo, featuring soloist and Symphony Orchestra principal cellist Kevin Song. One of the top young amateur cellists in the country, Kevin is a senior at Torrey Pines High School and is in his third season with SDYS. Featured twice on NPR’s From the Top, Kevin has also been selected by the National Youth Orchestra of the United States for two seasons. Recorded June 9, 2020, at Jacobs Music Center’s Copley Symphony Hall.
- Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Romeo et Juliet Fantasy Overture, performed by SDYS’s Symphony Orchestra. Recorded June 9, 2020, at Jacobs Music Center’s Copley Symphony Hall.
