International Youth Symphony

An annual summer music program for advanced SDYS Ovation students and international musicians

Entering its 15th year in 2019, the annual International Youth Symphony is a partnership program between SDYS and Rotary District 5340 International Youth Exchange that brings musicians from across the globe together with SDYS’ most experienced musicians for a two-week intensive music experience.

In July of 2019, 24 international musicians representing 10 countries will join SDYS students to create a unique orchestra, comprised of exceptionally talented student musicians led by SDYS Music Director Jeff Edmons for two weeks of rehearsals and a variety of recitals and concerts in the community.

Last year’s International Youth Symphony performances included an outdoor concert as part of the Twilight in the Park in Spreckels Organ Pavilion, a Classical Concert at the Center Theater at California Center for the Arts in Escondido, a concert at Downtown Rotary Club 33 and a opening performance at La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest in Ellen Scripps Park, La Jolla.
