International Youth Symphony

An annual summer music program for advanced SDYS Ovation students and international musicians

Entering its 16th year in 2022, the annual International Youth Symphony is a partnership program between SDYS and Rotary District 5340 International Youth Exchange that brings musicians from across the globe together with SDYS’ most experienced musicians for a two-week intensive music experience.

In July of 2022, 8 international musicians representing 4 countries will join SDYS students to create a unique orchestra, comprised of exceptionally talented student musicians led by guest conductor Jeffrey Grogan for two weeks of rehearsals and a variety of recitals and concerts in the community.

Typically, International Youth Symphony performances include an outdoor concert as part of the Twilight in the Park in Spreckels Organ Pavilion, a formal concert at a concert hall or other venue, a concert at Downtown Rotary Club 33, and a variety of intimate performances for donors.
