2022 – 2023 COVID-19 Policy for Students
August 26, 2022
SDYS will continue to enforce policies aligned with the San Diego Unified School District. We will regularly notify you of any changes to our policies throughout the season. Please visit the SDUSD website for the latest information.
To ensure the safety of all students, SDYS will enforce the following:
- Students with any symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough, congestion, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea, must stay home.
- All students and staff are highly encouraged to wear a mask indoors.
- Air will be circulated 2x each hour in every rehearsal room with HEPA filtration.
- All SDYS conductors and staff are required to be fully vaccinated.
If a student is in close contact to a person with COVID-19 either off- or on-site:
- The student (regardless of vaccination status) may attend rehearsals as long as they are symptom-free.
- We recommend getting a COVID test 3-5 days after exposure, as advised by the CDC.
- Students are expected to follow SDYS’ regular attendance policy as outlined in the student handbook; SDYS will not adjust for any Covid-related absences.
If a student contracts COVID-19:
- If a student tests positive on a rapid antigen test, please notify us at support@sdys.org and do not come to rehearsal.
- Students must take an at-home rapid test and can return to rehearsal if two tests taken at least 12 hours apart are both negative, when symptoms have improved and the student is fever-free without fever-reducing medication for 24 hours.
- Students are expected to follow SDYS’ regular attendance policy as outlined in the student handbook; SDYS will not adjust for any Covid-related absences.
Please contact the SDYS program team with any questions at support@sdys.org.
