The San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory is opening its rehearsals this weekend for prospective young musicians and their families.

The rehearsals take place from 8:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Saturday and 1:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in theCasa del Prado in Balboa Park and are open to the public.

Prospective young musicians will be able to sit among an ensemble, hear the conductors in action and speak to the artistic staff about registration and auditions.

Audition registration for the 2015-2016 season is open through May 21. There is more information online.

Since 1945, the youth symphony has given thousands of musicians aged 8 to 25 the opportunity to study and perform classical repertoire at a highly advanced level.
