Music Madness: an Opus Spring Camp Festival!
Music Madness is a virtual extravaganza of musical and social joy throughout the month of March.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is it?
Music Madness, an Opus Spring Camp Festival is a virtual event taking place for 1-1.5 hours each weekday after school throughout the month of March.
How much does it cost to participate?
It’s 100% FREE for students and families!
Why is the format of Spring Camp different from previous years?
Every year, Opus holds a 5-day, after-school music intensive camp before spring break for students enrolled in the year-long afterschool Opus program. Due to the public health crises and in consideration of students’ screen time, Spring Camp has transformed into a month-long, virtual music learning experience with sessions centered on community, creativity, and love of learning music taking place every weekday after school. This online format also allows for Spring Camp to be available to ALL CVESD Band & Orchestra students.
When is it?
Every weekday from March 1-25. Times will vary.
Who can participate?
Usually, Opus camps are open only to Opus school sites, but this year we’re able to offer it to all CVESD students (and their parents) who are in their school band or orchestra.
I’m still not sure if I’m eligible to participate. Which schools are invited?
Students who play in orchestra or band at the following schools are invited: Casillas, Castle Park, Cook, Finney, Harborside, Hilltop Drive, Juarez Lincoln, Kellogg, Lauderbach, Montgomery, Otay, Palomar, Rice, Rogers, Rohr, Rosebank, Vista Square, and Wolf Canyon.
Is there a concert?
Not exactly. Opus students will perform in a recital which will be streamed on March 24, but it’s not related to participation in camp.
How do I sign up?
If you’re eligible to participate, you can register here.
Where do I find the zoom links to the sessions?
Every eligible family who registers will receive an email and/or text message with the Zoom link to the sessions.
*These Zoom sessions will be recorded.
