Are you an aspiring composer, or are you interested to learn more about the many aspects that go into the creation of a musical work?
Take a journey, Behind the Score, for a broad exploration of musical structure while traversing the many topics related to composition and performance. Using developed fundamentals in music theory, students will work individually and collaboratively to analyze contemporary and historical musical trends, discover diverse genres, and then apply these skills to create and compose original works.
The San Diego Youth Symphony is proud to offer classes that explore what it means to create music on all levels. This course is designed for intermediate to advanced ensemble players with an interest in music theory and composition. A background in piano is recommended, but not required.
